A creator of Ambient Music Lorenzo Montanà realizes an aural realm in a vast scale. His Velan (59:13) has been drawn from out of a gifted imagination possessing the ability to evoke destinations uncertain and paths unknown. Inviting us to navigate an open-ended field of sonic stories, he reflects on the enduring value of creative forms. Rigorously Electronic, yet retaining a sensual quality these six tracks counter quite well the restlessness of contemporary life. Effecting passages of mystic bliss the haunted harmonies of Valen drift cloud slow over glowing timbres. Flexing and fading beneath a soft shading of dawnbeams it confers beauty on things the pace of our lives has taught us to ignore. In a lovely weaving between distant piano notes and sustaining synth chords the music's suspended order sends a dreamy, dramatic charge through the listener. Layered and lulling Valen's long, lush unbroken lines absorb our thoughts without all the eventfulness of more conventional instrumental efforts. Through this vivid passageway to liminal space arises the subtlest gestures of measured motion. To center and contemplate, to turn feelings into sound, to deal with such moods and tempers in a poetic way, once cast into music's reality we may share the good things around us - as boldly as we can.
