Glowing with a little more wattage than his contemporaries Grant Beasley presumes a bigger cosmos. Played with luminous intensity his Stellar Remnants (53:50) expands the possibilities of electricity, as he endeavors to bring the miracle of his universe into sonic relief. The seven tracks represent a spatial, aural journey through the long night between stars. Grounding his work in musical ideas, whether through harmonic progression, dynamic shaping, or sheer attentiveness to texture, even at its most complex the music remains inviting - encouraging deep listening rather than intellectual distance. Energized as seductive sequencers run, rise and shift the shape and pace of the pulse Stellar Remnants brings a sense of freedom to our listening location. Fleet and graceful, then swirling in a circulation of synthetic sound it expends its energy in crowning chords and lithe melodies above dancing arpeggios of echoing electronic notes. Where dramatic harmonic progressions ascend us further still, the deliberate pacing in other areas slows the listener with its handling of light, but also the darkness that allows for its existence. Supporting the values of curiosity and precision Stellar Remnants furthers the Spacemusic mystique - as it seeks alignment with the peace and stillness at the core of every human spirit.
