Interstellar Odyssey Nimrod Scott
Nimrod Scott (aka AEGYRE) can hear the future. From the very first stirrings of creativity the sheer ambition of his music transcends simple engineering. Working at great scale and intensity he has realized Interstellar Odyssey (62:16) - an album meant for the shared soundscape of our Star's End dreams. Across nine nebulous tracks the drama of intimate exchanges and transformations between electrical current, patch cords and control voltages are raw, then refined. As Scott fully explores the range possible from a system of devices with open-ended synth voice architecture he approaches a reality that is beyond his machines and the forces powering them. In timbre jagged and steely, then soothing and cerebral the sonic magnitude rages and ages from the vigorous to the vaporous. In a dreamy nocturnal poetry of pulse synchronized sequencers align with heated circuits to combine in the many charged sparks of this Interstellar Odyssey. Captivating in its perfectly stark, ethereal beauty we hear the musician extending beyond the cold logic of machines. At such moments the listener may grasp the poet's modular meanings, and possibly the link between thinking and being. Making this music, or listening to it, aligns one's self with time and space. In the quiet drama of its grand ideas and dark imaginings, in real time, at its best Interstellar Odyssey points to a time yet to come - where new kinds of greatness will still be possible.
