Navigating the cosmos Arjen Schat continues to embrace an intriguing set of coordinates. Akasha (66:19) presents five tracks that do not assume Electronic Music must be so difficult and severe. Glowing with charm and invention this release suggests new thoughts and realms. Propelling the listener through a trackless void, we create our own space in a journey to the outer boundaries. As the listening mind mists over we ascend to a splendid dream of existence. Made to entrance, Akasha works on the kaleidoscopic interplay of entangled figurations of notes. As sequencers synchronize along rows of broken, consonant chords, melodious Mellotron Flute tones encounter rounded synth leads on flights of charged expression. In its crisscrossing rhythms and patterns the echoing energy of this realization eventually resolves in a pulse of inexplicable charge. Outer Space, Inner Space, The Earth and Heavens, and the life they contain, and even the space inside our minds, are all somehow connected - and all make sense here in the setting of Spacemusic.
